Charity Work
At the beginning of each new season Arsenal names a charity that the club and supporters raise funds to help. The 2008/2009 charity of the season is The Teenage Cancer Trust and Arsenal aims to raise 300K to fund an education zone inside a day care centre for teenage cancer patients at University College hospital, North London.
Cesc and the team launched this season’s campaign with a visit to the University College hospital where they visited young people in the cancer ward. You can read about the visit in The Sun and The Telegraph. Arsenal will be working with the charity over the next twelve months and if you can spare a little something to help, you can make a donation and read more about this worthy cause at the Be a Gooner be a giver website.
In 2007/2008 the worthy cause was Treehouse - the national center for autism education. Cesc and the team visited the school and spent time with the children as part of the clubs initiative. Cesc also recorded an appeal message for The Times who chose Treehouse as one of the charities for their Christmas appeal. You can see this message as well as an advertisement made by the club and a clip from the team’s visit to the school below. The club raised over half a million pounds for treehouse during the season.
In 2006/2007 Arsenal chose The Willow Foundation as the charity of the season. The Willow Foundation is dedicated to bringing special days to the seriously ill aged between 16 and 40. The foundation was originally set up by former Arsenal goalkeeper Bob Wilson and his wife Megs as a loving tribute to their daughter Anna, who died of cancer aged just 31. Cesc and the team worked with impact art to create pictures and prints which were then signed and sold to raise funds.

In addition to the charity work Cesc does with Arsenal, he is also currently an ambassador for
