JUVENTUS, LIKELY IVANOVIC’S NEXT DESINATION

Serbia international right back, Branislav Ivanovic might be heading to Juventus with his contract expiring by May.

The 32-year-old has been relegated to the bench following an abysmal run of form plus the emergence of Victor Moses on the right wing-back in the three-man defence at Chelsea.

Ivanovic has thus become a potential transfer target for Juve due to injuries to Dani Alves and Leonardo Bonnuci. Alves suffered a fractured tibia in the defeat to Genoa while Chelsea target, Bonucci has been ruled-out with a hamstring injury – leaving the Old Ladies short at the back. This has prompted Juve to look at relatively cheap targets to cover for the injured pair, with Ivanovic’s name understood to be high on their list.

But it is understood that Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte will be reluctant to let Ivanovic go without first signing a replacement, as the Serb still provides valuable cover at right-back and centre. Conte has 20-year-old Ola Aina in his squad and Cesar Azpilicueta on the right side of the back-line, but, with Chelsea fighting for the Premier League title, the coach will want to be sure of signing at least one new defender before allowing Ivanovic to leave. KANTE UNDERRATED AT CHELSEA?

N’Golo Kante has been central in the Chelsea setup this term.

The diminutive French midfielder’s stats suggest that he is the reason for Leicester City’s Premier League swoop last season and the man behind Chelsea’s possible title win this campaign.

Kante played more games than the rest of the players whilst with the Foxes last season, only behind goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, captain Wes Morgan and Marc Albrighton. He missed just one game last season for Leicester – their 2-2 draw against West Brom in March.

The player’s capabilities, hardwork and the improved confidence married the change in formation at Stamford Bridge to give birth to a dramatic turnaround for Chelsea. The Blues sit atop the league with a six-point margin. Defending champions Leicester place four points above the relegation zone without the powerless defensive machine. Continue reading →

FABREGAS BACKS ARSENAL

The Barcelona midfielder, Cesc Fabregas, has told Arsenal Soccer News that his old club Arsenal has got a very strong side and the team is among the favourites to win the Premier League.

Arsene Wenger’s side didn’t start the ongoing season that well and didn’t manage to register a win in its first three matches.  But, the team came back into the tournament with a terrific win over Southampton a few days back. Arsenal outplayed Southampton and won that match by a huge margin of 6-1. The Arsenal players looked in supreme touch in that match and they made the match one sided. It was a brilliant display of versatile football by Arsene Wenger’s boys.

Fabregas praised Arsene Wenger for his ability to find talent. As per Fabregas, Wenger is a great manager. He never hesitates in giving opportunities to the youngsters. If he thinks that a particular player has got talent, he just gives him a go. He always backs the youngsters and motivates them to give their best on the field. That’s why, Arsenal has produced so many superstars.

Arsenal has been hampered by the exit of a few top quality players this summer including the Dutch striker Robin Van Persie. But, Fabregas thinks that the team would do well even without Van Persie. The Spaniard said that Arsenal is a team which doesn’t rely on one player. Van Persie played superbly in the last season, but, it doesn’t mean that Arsenal can’t win matches without him.

Fabregas, who had left Arsenal last summer, is struggling to find a place in Barcelona’s first XI in the ongoing season and there have been some reports of him being unhappy with the Barcelona’s manager, Tito Vilanova. But, Fabregas denied all those reports. He said that he is waiting for his chance and whenever, he gets the starting opportunity, he would try to grab it with both hands.
