Fabregas happy after start of season

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas said that he is happy at the moment.

He said that Chelsea had made a good start to the season despite the poor result in the opening game. He believes that this is mainly due to the fact that they had two players sent off otherwise it could have been a different result.

The Spanish midfielder said that the players had responded well after their first defeat and they have managed to get two good results against Tottenham Hotspurs and Everton. He said that the two last games were not that easy and that they had to fight a lot in order to get the victories.

Cesc Fabregas said that the players are determined to retain their title and that they will be doing everything they can in order to win the Premier League again. He admitted that it would be a lot harder this time around as they will have to focus on the Champions league as well but he believes that they have the necessary squad to cope with the demand of the two competitions. Serbia international right back, Branislav Ivanovic might be heading to Juventus with his contract expiring by May.

The 32-year-old has been relegated to the bench following an abysmal run of form plus the emergence of Victor Moses on the right wing-back in the three-man defence at Chelsea.

Ivanovic has thus become a potential transfer target for Juve due to injuries to Dani Alves and Leonardo Bonnuci. Alves suffered a fractured tibia in the defeat to Genoa while Chelsea target, Bonucci has been ruled-out with a hamstring injury – leaving the Old Ladies short at the back. This has prompted Juve to look at relatively cheap targets to cover for the injured pair, with Ivanovic’s name understood to be high on their list.

But it is understood that Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte will be reluctant to let Ivanovic go without first signing a replacement, as the Serb still provides valuable cover at right-back and centre. Conte has 20-year-old Ola Aina in his squad and Cesar Azpilicueta on the right side of the back-line, but, with Chelsea fighting for the Premier League title, the coach will want to be sure of signing at least one new defender before allowing Ivanovic to leave. N’Golo Kante has been central in the Chelsea setup this term.

The diminutive French midfielder’s stats suggest that he is the reason for Leicester City’s Premier League swoop last season and the man behind Chelsea’s possible title win this campaign.

Kante played more games than the rest of the players whilst with the Foxes last season, only behind goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, captain Wes Morgan and Marc Albrighton. He missed just one game last season for Leicester – their 2-2 draw against West Brom in March.

The player’s capabilities, hardwork and the improved confidence married the change in formation at Stamford Bridge to give birth to a dramatic turnaround for Chelsea. The Blues sit atop the league with a six-point margin. Defending champions Leicester place four points above the relegation zone without the powerless defensive machine. Continue reading →

Cesc Fabregas is set to remain at Stamford Bridge until the end of the season despite the lack of playtime, according to reports.

The former Arsenal and Barcelona playmaker has two years left on his current deal but is not in a hurry to leave the club.

Recent revelations place the player as one of the highest earning football stars at Chelsea FC. He reportedly earns £220,000 in weekly wages plus image rights, based on a report by The Times. The report say this was one of the reasons the club is open to trading him during the January transfer window, particularly as he remains frozen out from the manager’s plans.

The revelation is quite stunning as it means he earns more than Eden Hazard, Diego Costa, and other top stars that playing actively. The former Gunner has started just one game this season under Conte – the poor performance the team put up against Arsenal, losing 3-0. With the stability in the team, it is very unlikely that Fabregas’ fate would change anytime soon. Since the switch to the 3-4-3 formation, Chelsea have enjoyed a four-game winning run. Vicente Del Bosque is offended to hear the media stories he calls misleading

Vicente Del Bosque is offended to hear the media stories he calls misleading. But, he must ask himself who is giving the media the content to report what they are reporting?

If a certain player is not playing and he comes and says ‘I wouldn’t have wanted this visit only for the sake of it’, is it selfless or is it a showing of how united the side is?

If the skipper of the side who normally is a fine penalty taker pushes on himself to take another one and fails and then, a veteran player passes the statement that he was willing for the shot too and it’s only for his colleague’s insistence that he left it to him, is it again a showing of the unity?

Team spirit is not limited to just being on the pitch together. It also means shielding one another and finding joy in the glorifying moments of the others.

What if you are not playing? The others are playing with the same goal which you would have played with and that is to win for Spain.  What if you were asked by your skipper to leave it to him to deal with a penalty and it remained unconverted? It could have been the case with you too. Continue reading →
